Today im going to show you an easy way to make a creative frame effect that you can apply on different stocks.
I use this pic:
1. Open your pic, dont
need to duplicate it. I use Retangcle tool to draw a square on the pic
like this: ( i prefer it than use Retangular marquee tool because im
easier to edit the selection without affecting the pic) :
Right click on the square and choose Free transform path.
Transform it in the way you want. After it, right click again and choose Make
selection with feather = 0. Duplicate the selection twice and rename it
Layer 1 and layer 2.
Choose layer 1, go to Edit - Fill and fill it with
any color you like. After doing it we have result:
2. Lower opacity of layer 1 to 30-50 % to be easier to choose
another selection. Choose background again, use Retangcle tool to draw a
square under the first one. Make selection and duplicate it once we
have layer 3.
Move it under the layer 2 ( layer on the top).
3. Repeat the step 2 twice till it covers all her body. You can order layer position to get a different result. Mine is:
4.Now i will apply layer style for frame layers ( layer
2,3,4,5) . Choose layer 2:
After applying layer style, right click on layer 2 again, choose Copy layer style:
Right click on layer 3, 4, 5 and paste layer style. We have result:
5. Duplicate background and apply radial blur and adjust levels (
parameters as you want):
6. You still can change background by turning off two background layers and layer 1 and place any pic you like. Here is my result after adding something:
This method can be used to create different frame styles.

What version of Photoshop your usng? Im just a beginner so could you please guide me in doing this on CS4 photoshop, I can't do it specially the 3rd instruction on duplicating layers....
I use CS2 and am not sure the features of CS4 but i think this tut can be applied on most of photoshop versions. To duplicate selection ( if you meant it), after making selection, just press Ctrl+J twice to duplicate it twice. Hope it helps
I was very happy to have enjoyed. I love your posts and whenever possible, I like to try them and some are being translated into Portuguese of Brazil. Of course, they all have their end credits.
hi to all at pureromance88.ucoz.com i thought i had sent this newyears eve but it didnt send so i have sent it again all best for 2012 to all of you - gentas
In fact. The frame content is creetad by doing an square selection from the foto (if you see the black and white background).I have used an trick, it extracts one part of the photo, and creates the frame for it.In fact that it is called frame effect, because it is the same picture, not other picture inside that frame.Cheers.Hope it was clear enough
i think my tutorial is to create "frame effect" inside a photo. If i made a frame outside i would ignore "effect". Hope it can clarify . Thanks for your opinion though
Hi, I'm beginner on photoshop. When i used Retangcle tool to draw a square on the pic it was showed blocked white color (can't show the selection of original picture). Need your advice on this. I am using CS5. Thanks
When you begin using pen tool, make sure that you choose "Paths" option ( look at property bar ) instead of "shape layers". Click the link to see screenshot below:
